David is part of the teaching team at at Norwich School, NCYM (Norfolk Centre for Young Musicians) and also the Norfolk Music Service. NCYM which is a Saturday Music School in the City of Norwich.
As part of the teaching Music Teaching team and especially a flute tutor Norwich in Norfolk has been a fruitful and highly rewarding place for David Fitzgerald to mentor very motivated students - many of whom have been awarded places at the following Academies & Conservatoires: the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, the Royal Academy of Music, the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, RNCM & Trinity Laban (a location for Classical as well as Jazz Programmes of Study) as well as Youth Programmes within the National Youth Jazz Collective, National Youth Jazz Orchestra and Aldeburgh Young Musicians.
David has spent a lifetime in music, and as a professional musician and flute tutor Norwich students particularly benefit from his knowledge and experience. Not only a tutor of flute but also saxophone and woodwind, David loves to inspire each student to find their own voice and discover their potential as they follow their musical journey.
David offers tuition and preparation for the for ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) examinations and full instruction and assistance in preparation for both Classical & Jazz ABRSM examinations.
A lesson usually lasts 30 minutes and some lessons can be taken during holiday breaks, but take place mostly during the Norfolk County Council school term dates.
David Fitzgerald also directs the Jazz & Saxophone Ensembles at Norwich School & NCYM.
David has also been an adjudicator at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, where musicians, dancers and singers perform each year from approximately 120 nations around the world.
You will be welcome to bring your mobile phone or something to record each lesson with David. Motivated and active flute learners are enouraged to set themselves a clear practice schedule with set objectives for each session. David advises that you use a visible planner or diary to keep a record of each session and he encourages you to also record your lesson so that you can listen back and use each of the objectives set and be reminded of any demonstrations given during the lesson and weave these into your private practice times. Students can listen back and hear how they have moved forward, week by week and month by month.
